Whereas, |
Drug/Alcohol abuse is a threat to the health, education, and well-being of children and youth; and |
Whereas, |
Parents are concerned about drug/alcohol abuse problems among children and youth; and |
Whereas, |
Peer pressure is a major factor in the spread of drug/alcohol abuse in teenagers; and |
Whereas, |
Parents or homeowners can be liable for car accidents or damage among teenagers; and |
Whereas, |
Ordinances are being adopted by townships and boroughs across New Jersey which permit the arrest of teens in private homes for underage drinking; and |
Whereas, |
Parents can help present drug/alcohol abuse through positive peer pressure; and therefore be it |
Resolved, |
That the New Jersey PTA, and all of its PTAs educate their members to the dangers of drug/alcohol use and abuse by children and youth; and be it further |

That the New Jersey PTA, and all of its PTAs encourage parents to:

That the New Jersey PTA and all of its PTAs support a no-use message to youth on drugs and alcohol and discourage mixed messages on the use of illegal substances. |
