Whereas, New Jersey's population represents a multitude of ethnic groups, displaying a wide diversity of languages and customs, and
Whereas, the demographics of our individual school districts are changing to reflect the general population, and
Whereas, many New Jersey school districts provide programs that celebrate diversity and are beneficial to all students, and
Whereas, daily the media reports serious incidents of discrimination within our state; and therefore, be it
Resolved, that the New Jersey PTA address the myriad of multicultural issues confronting our society; and be it further
Resolved, that the New Jersey PTA promote inclusively throughout the entire school community through multicultural programming including, but not limited to assembly programs, classroom discussion, school fairs, and adult programs; and be it further
Resolved, that the New Jersey PTA encourages local PTAs to develop coalitions with community groups such as service organizations, youth groups, police and fire departments, senior citizens groups, and the local library, and be it further
Resolved, that the New Jersey PTA encourage each local PTA to strive to achieve membership on its Executive Committee and Board which equitably reflects the demographics of its school.
